The plaintiff (John Doe) was a Marian University student. In the fall of 2018, Doe was the subject of a Title IX complaint in which he was accused of having sex with a female student too inebriated to consent. Doe was found responsible after an investigation, and his appeals were denied. Doe filed a gender‐discrimination lawsuit under Title IX, claiming the campus was steeped in a culture of “female empowerment” and sympathy toward female accusers.
