A total of 2 million graduate and professional students enrolled in U.S. colleges and universities in 2018. However, student services tailored to graduate and professional students are rare. And student affairs professionals in graduate support roles often have very limited staff and other resources. That makes it difficult to develop effective support services for grad and professional students. And research shows that the lack of support services impacts the success of all grad students but particularly students of color and first‐generation students.
