When Will Simpkins, Ed.D., was a college student, he never set foot in the campus career center, and didn't know what they did or even where they were located, even though he held roles as a resident assistant and an orientation leader. His lack of interaction with the career center probably represents much of the student population on many campuses today, said Simpkins, based on his research combined with his 15‐year career working in career centers, and his role as an external reviewer for career centers of public and private colleges and universities. He's now vice president for student affairs at Metropolitan State University of Denver.
