As a single mother working full time in student affairs while pursuing her doctorate, Judy K. Sakaki noticed that administrators didn't usually have student success at the forefront when they made policy decisions. She also observed that many administrators didn't know what it was like to navigate college life while encountering the difficulties unique to first‐generation college students like herself.
