During the last several years, colleges and universities have seen an increase in the number and severity of cases being addressed through Behavioral Intervention Teams or CARE teams. Managing the growing number, complexity, and coordination of students with obstacles that stand in the way of academic and personal success has become challenging, given limited financial and human resources. From depression, chronic illnesses, and hospitalizations to homelessness, food insecurity, financial problems, and potential threats to self and others, campuses have found themselves struggling to help the many students in need.
