Due to the model of intercollegiate athletics, student‐athletes are recruited to attend our universities with the promise that their talent will afford them the opportunity to continue their education and passion for sport. However, too often student‐athletes get funneled into the “athlete” population and are segregated from the important support programs and systems that colleges and universities have in place for their general student population.
