In the era of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART), the survival of patients with HIV has improved. Increasing morbidity and mortality are now related to chronic liver and kidney disease. Transplantation in HIV patients has been reported for nearly two decades and outcomes have generally improved in the HAART era. This review summarises the published experiences with liver and kidney transplantation in HIV patients. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
