A small computer program has been written to investigate the effect of increasing the mass resolution to very high values (10 6 ) on the shape of mass spectral peaks of small to medium‐sized proteins. Previous work in this area has generally limited discussion to mass resolutions of a few thousand. Now that mass spectra of proteins are obtainable with a mass resolution exceeding one million, it is important to be able to conveniently generate theoretical spectra at the same resolution.
