A data acquisition system for mass spectrometers has been developed based on an IBM PC plug‐in board equipped with a TMS320C25 processor. The processing unit, programmed in Assembler language, acquires analog signals from the detector of a mass spectrometer and converts it into an array of digital data. The communication software, written in Pascal language, controls the processor, handles the spectra and stores the data. The system requirements and its properties are discussed and some applications are shown.
