High temperature mass spectrometry is a powerful tool for studying the vaporization processes and thermodyna‐mic properties of different types of materials such as glasses, ceramics and coatings. This paper illustrates the main advantages of this method for investigations of oxide systems and the approaches available to predict the relative volatilities as well as the thermodynamic properties of materials based on these systems.
