The utility of on‐line liquid chromatogaphy coupled to UV diode array detection and atmospheric pressure chemical ionization mass spectrometry for the analysis of microsomal metabolites of felodipine has been investigated. A previously unreported metabolite of felodipine, extracted from male rat microsomes, has been detected using this technique. UV diode array detection has been used to characterize this metabolite as a dihydropyridine metabolite and tandem mass spectrometry data used to assign a structure.
