Binary mixtures of positionally isomeric tetradecenols were by conventional combined gas chromatography/mass spectrometry without any chemical modification. Each spectrum in repetitive scanning was interpreted in terms of similarity of mass spectral patterns based on a fuzzy classification. This methodology is used for the rapid analysis of chromatographically unresolved isomers in a mixture.
