Thermospray mass spectra are usually dominated by [M + H] + and [M + NH 4 ] + quasimolecular ions. Several years' work with various classes of compounds using the technique of liquid chromatography/thermospray ionization mass spectrometry has given us the opportunity of observing further adduct ions of lower intensity. Knowledge about these ions facilitates interpretation of thermospray spectra, enables the analysis of peak purity and gives additional confirmation of correct molecular weight assignment.
