The negative‐ion chemical ionization mass spectra of a group of isomeric polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) have been studied using CO 2 as reagent buffer gas. The spectra show reproducible and characteristic differences between members of the set, implying that this technique offers some potential for distinguishing among groups of PAH isomers.
