The sensitivity and mass resolution of a conventional double‐focusing mass spectrometer equipped with an array detector are limited by the fixed range of masses that can be detected simultaneously. This paper describes ion‐optical properties of a new lens system for varying the relative mass range on the simultaneous detector.
