A LCAO‐MO‐SCF study of the Ne 4 system designed to test the convergence of multibody expansions in neon clusters and to assess the departure from pairwise additivity in the tetramer is presented. These results are analyzed together with other authors' calculations on different noble gas tetramers with the intention of showing that all the more accurate treatments coincide in predicting the convergence of multibody expansions for noble gas clusters, even for short‐range forces. This casts some doubt on previous predictions of a tendency of four‐body forces to outweigh three‐body forces for the heavier noble gas.
