The group theory of flexible molecules developed by Longuet–Higgins is used to establish compatibility conditions between nuclear spin states and migrational states for fermions interchanged by intramolecular rearrangements in fluxional complexes of benzyl, allyl, and cyclooctatetraenyl species.
