Caffeine, under active development at the SMART laboratory of the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa and discussed on page 1731, is specifically designed to exploit Immersive Virtual Reality technologies within the field ofmolecular graphics. Numerical data related to the system under investigation can be plotted as line charts, and visualized in front of the user as part of the 3D scene. The cover shows a user studying a DNA/Doxorubicin binary complex in a CAVE installation running the Caffeine molecular viewer.
