Superhalogens are clusters consisting of a metal atom surrounded by electronegative atoms that display extremely high electronic affinity. On page 1350 Xinying Li and Junxia Cai investigate gold‐halogen interactions using first‐principles calculations. The overlap of spd hybrid orbitals in the gold atoms and sp hybrid orbitals in the halogen atoms dominate the metallophilic interaction. (DOI: 10.1002/qua.25183 )
