On page 1697 (DOI: 10.1002/qua.24784 ), Fernando A. Figueredo, Julio R. Maza, Steven R. Kirk, and Samantha Jenkins introduce a physics‐inspired topological approach for the folding phenomena of peptides in the form of a contracted quantum topology phase diagram that abstracts away, without loss of generality, the details of the intra‐amino acid bonding topology. ‘Pivot‐bonds’ are introduced to quantify the directional preference for bond torsion and hence folding behaviors. The interpretation of ellipticity is expanded to include the associated eigenvectors, showing that the disulphide bond is central to the folding behavior of the cyclic contryphan‐Sm peptide. Additionally, an explanation for the cis ‐isomer being the major form of the contryphan‐Sm peptide is provided.
