The Feenberg scaling procedure, as applied to Rayleigh–Schrödinger perturbation theory, is not size consistent; i.e., the energy error E ( AB ) − E ( A ) − E ( B ) is nonzero if A and B are two different, noninteracting subsystems. The magnitude of this size inconsistency of the Feenberg scaling is determined and analyzed. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J Quantum Chem, 2005
