A primitive equation system using pressure as the vertical coordinate has been derived, and this system has been applied to modelling both deep and shallow convetion. It has been demostrated that this system, including suitable boundary conditions, filters out the acoustic mode entirely. There exist certain advantage due to having gridpoints at constant pressure.
