This paper describes an objective technique for the analysis of 100 mb contour charts. The method is basically an extension of a procedure that has proved successful at lower levels. The problems associated with the analysis of contour heights at 100 mb and above are discussed briefly and a sample analysis is shown. It is considered that the objective analyses are of similar standard to those produced by an analyst using conventional methods.
