When the effective path length μ is greater than 4 the focused sun method must be used when measuring the amount of atmospheric ozone by the Dobson spectrophotometer. Errors are introduced by light from the sky, and by light scattered within the spectrophotometer. A method of evaluating these errors is described, and corrections are tabulated which enable measurements of ozone amount to be made when μ is in the range 4 to 8·5.
