A method of counting the very fine dust particles of the Harmattan and of determining their approximate size range is described, and some of the counts obtained at Ibadan, Nigeria, during the 1955–56 season are presented. It is suggested that the large dust concentrations may have a blanketing effect on terrestrial radiation.
