An experiment is described for measurement of the rate of coalescence in a cloud of droplets of nearly equal size. It is found that the value of the collection efficiency is unexpectedly high, and a physical explanation of the effect is given. The influence of electric charges on the droplets has been observed, and it is shown that increases by a factor of up to 20 in the collection efficiency are possible.
