An apparatus is described for the direct measurement of humidity mixing ratio. It is designed primarily for recording the turbulent fluctuations in the mixing ratio in the lower atmosphere, and is based on an electrical analogue of the wet‐bulb equation, using dry‐ and wet‐bulb thermocouples. Field tests give agreement with Assmann psychrometer values to within less than 1 per cent under favourable conditions for comparison.
