A psychological intervention during or after tapering of antidepressant medication may be as effective as antidepressant monotherapy as a long‐term strategy for preventing relapse, a newly published meta‐analysis suggests. Psychological interventions with tapering may be effective even for patients with high residual symptoms or a high number of previous depressive episodes, the researchers stated. Results of the meta‐analysis were published online May 19, 2021 in JAMA Psychiatry .
