A meta‐analysis encompassing 78 trials has found that most long‐acting injectable (LAI) antipsychotics were more efficacious than placebo in preventing relapse in adults with nonaffective psychosis. Individual LAI antipsychotics that demonstrated the most encouraging results for both efficacy and acceptability were aripiprazole, olanzapine, and two formulations of paliperidone. Results of the meta‐analysis were published online on Feb. 18, 2021 in the American Journal of Psychiatry .
