A cross‐sectional analysis of suicidal acts involving drug poisoning has found that opioids were the drug class most commonly identified in fatal suicide poisonings. The researchers estimated that 75% to 87% of suicide incidents involving opioids would not have resulted in death had opioids not been involved.
