Important differences in patient and study characteristics between studies of pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy for schizophrenia compromise the ability to compare the effects of the two approaches, a systematic review has concluded. Among the differences are a higher prevalence of severely ill patients in pharmacotherapy trials and greater methodological limitations in psychotherapy trials, the researchers reported.
