Many elderly patients are prescribed drugs that act on the central nervous system (CNS), and the literature suggests that use of CNS‐active drugs is associated with falls and potentially hip fracture, resulting in increased morbidity and mortality. However, the risk of fall associated with these medications in patients with dementia has seldom been investigated, even though this population is likely more sensitive to adverse cognitive effects of CNS‐active medications.
