Prescribing of stimulant medications for the treatment of attention‐deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) among privately insured women ages 15 to 44 increased by 388% between 2003 and 2015, according to data published in the Jan. 19 Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report . The report authors state that this trend highlights the urgency of evaluating the safety of ADHD medication use during pregnancy, in order to help women and their health care providers in conducting a sound risk‐benefit analysis of the medications.
