A study examining records from U.S. veterans receiving opioids for pain management between 2004 and 2009 has found an increased risk of death from opioid overdose in patients who took opioids and benzodiazepines concurrently. Risk of death increased at higher daily benzodiazepine doses, study authors reported. Results were published online June 10 in the BMJ .
