Meta‐analysis finds small benefit for quetiapine in schizophrenia

A systematic review and meta‐analysis has concluded that the immediate‐release formulation of the antipsychotic quetiapine has a small beneficial effect on overall symptoms of schizophrenia. The review found no evidence of increased risk of serious adverse events but did indicate that the drug generates a moderate to large effect on weight gain and also leads to sedation in a significant number of cases.
