According to a new study, extended‐release mixed amphetamine salts in combination with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) was more effective than placebo in treating adults with comorbid attention‐deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and cocaine use disorder, with positive effects on outcomes for both disorders. ADHD outcomes were somewhat better in patients receiving the lower of two daily doses of the study medication (60 mg vs. 80 mg), while cocaine use outcomes were superior with the higher dose. Study results were published online April 18 in JAMA Psychiatry .
