A review and meta‐analysis of 51 randomized controlled trials has found that some selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressants have a small positive effect on symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Results of the review support use of paroxetine, venlafaxine, and fluoxetine as pharmacologic agents for PTSD. Study results were published in the February 2015 issue of The British Journal of Psychiatry .
