Cardiac conduction delays, including prolongation of the electrocardiographic QT interval, are known to occur with both typical and atypical antipsychotics. The following case report describes an elderly patient in whom the occurrence of torsades de pointes, a potentially fatal type of arrhythmia, appeared to be associated with the use of olanzapine in the setting of hypokalemia.
