A study of individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia in Sweden has found the highest overall mortality among patients who received no exposure to antipsychotic treatment. The results, which also showed higher mortality among individuals with high exposure to antipsychotics than among those who had low or moderate exposure, indicate that antipsychotic treatment in adequate doses does not lead to excess mortality risk. Study results were published online Nov. 24, 2014, in Schizophrenia Bulletin .
