The regulations for the packaging of dangerous goods, which are applicable world‐wide for the various modes of transport, include performance tests. It is impossible to conduct laboratory tests for every environmental condition, but the tests can produce a conservative estimate of the situation during transport. This paper analyses the so‐called leakproofness test as one of the design‐type tests for packagings covered by the United Nations' (UN) recommendations for dangerous goods.
