The antifertility effects of the methanol extract of Rhaptopetalum coriaceum stem bark were investigated in pregnant rats and oestrogen‐primed isolated rat uterus. Graded intraperitoneal doses (350, 700 and 1400 mg/kg) of the extract produced fetal discharges which were expressed as percent antifertility (16.6%, 50.0%, and 66.6% respectively). The extract induced an increase of spontaneous activity of oestrogen‐dominated rat uterus in a concentration‐related manner with an EC 50 of 48.6 mg/mL.
