The effect of ginsenoside‐Rb 2 on RNA polymerase activity was investigated in rats with streptozotocin‐induced diabetes. Daily intraperitoneal administration of ginsenoside‐Rb 2 for 3 or 6 days resulted in an increase of RNA polymerase I activity, as well as an increment of RNA polymerase II activity. From these results, it seems that ginsenoside‐Rb 2 promotes the synthesis of rRNA and mRNA.
