The neuropharmacological activity of the aqueous extract of Prunus spinosa stems (PSA) has been studied through screening of anxiolytic, antipsychotic and antidepressive activity in mice. PSA appeared to demonstrate a pattern of antidepressive‐like activity because it antagonized hypothermia induced by apomorphine and potentiated yohimbine toxicity. It also antagonized the symptoms induced by oxotremorine. PSA lacked antipsychotic or anxiolytic activities.
