The anti‐inflammatory activities of the fruit juice of Ecballium elaterium (Cucurbitaceae) and its triterpenoid constituent, cucurbitacin B, were tested in mice against serotonin‐ and bradykinin‐induced edemas. Both showed a dose‐dependent and significant inhibition of edema. Cucurbitacin B content of fruit juice was determined to 2.48% by HPLC.
