An investigation has been conducted into the anti‐microbial activity of a chemical isolate obtained from the leaves of Uraria picta. The isolate exhibited marked bacteriostatic or bactericidal and fungistatic or fungicidal activities. These effects were demonstrated in a wide spectrum of micro‐organisms. Findings from the investigation carried out provide scientific support to the local use of U. picta leaves for the treatment of skin diseases and for accelerating fracture wound healing.
