Magnetic properties and band structure of ordered Co 2−x Ni x TiSn compounds

The band structure and magnetic properties of the ordered Co 2−x Ni x TiSn Heusler‐type alloys for x = 0, 1, and 2, are studied by using the spin‐polarised TB LMTO method. We found that the Ni 2 TiSn system is paramagnetic. The self‐consistent band calculations for the systems with vacancy (□) have shown that Co 2−x □ x TiSn is ferromagnetic but for Ni 2−x □ x TiSn we did not observe any magnetic moment.
