The temperature dependence of magnetization at or near the surface in a semi‐infinite spin‐1/2 Ising ferromagnet with a diluted spin‐1 surface is examined within the framework of an effective‐field theory with correlations. Magnetic behaviors associated with the surface dilution as well as the surface single‐ion anisotropy are discussed. A number of interesting phenomena are obtained, which may be observed experimentally.
