A model of a type‐II superconducting cylindrical shell is established to verify the properties of distorted flux lines using the London theory. The field distributions inside and outside the superconducting region are determined. Moreover, the current density and the forces on the vortex segments are calculated using these field distributions. Finally, the Gibbs free energy of the system is obtained in compact form which can be easily applied to real‐life application. As the shell tends to a rigid cylinder agreement with previous results is achieved.
