A modified rigid ion model is used to investigate the lattice dynamics of the superionic cerium dioxide compound with an appropriate effective charge in the electrostatic interaction and third‐neighbour interaction for the short‐range forces. The present model is more physical than others in predicting the phonon frequencies in superionic compounds.
