The first thermoelectric investigation of fast neutron irradiated polycrystalline superconductors YBa 2 Cu 4 O 8 reveals that with a rising fluence the absolute values of thermoelectric power increase gradually, the transition temperature shifts from 77 to 72 K, whereas the thermal conductivity diminishes due to the suppression of electron and phonon mean free paths by the defects created in the CuO 2 layers.
